Buckminster-Fuller Response

Dear Bruce Saunders,

Thank you for submitting your application to the student category of the 2016 Fuller Challenge. I am sorry to inform you that your project has not been selected as the winner of the student award category.

This year, the Fuller Challenge received dozens of student entries from around the world. The Challenge Review Committee, comprised of over 20 individuals with knowledge and expertise across the disciplinary spectrum, has spent the past three months pouring through the entries and evaluating their fulfillment of our seven point criteria as outlined in the Call for Proposals: Visionary, Comprehensive, Anticipatory, Ecologically Responsible, Verifiable, Feasible, and Replicable.

Applications were not only evaluated against this set of criteria, but were also judged alongside the other projects present in the applicant pool in this year’s cycle. What this means is that the student winner not only has to meet each of our seven criteria, but must do so at a higher level than other submitted applications. This is, indeed, quite a feat.

It is our goal to increase the resources we are able to share with our growing network of comprehensive designers. We strongly encourage you to access information about The Buckminster Fuller Institute’s other programs and opportunities by visiting our website – http://www.bfi.org – and opting-in to receive updates and news by email.

Thank you for sharing your work with us, and your inspiring commitment to answering Buckminster Fuller’s Challenge to: “make the world work for 100% of humanity in the shortest possible time without ecological offense or the disadvantage of anyone.” We encourage you to keep us informed about your work and apply again in a future cycle of the Fuller Challenge.

With deep appreciation,

The Buckminster Fuller Review Committee

Well it seems quite a feat to even be considered on a global basis.

In truth – this will have to do as proof that I DID in fact enter for the Princely sum of $50. 🙂 That got me this e-mail, I suspect Chris. I understand the compliment and thanks but I’m sure it’s not true. Still, I am surprised I did not win. hehehe!
